Spider Veins and Varicose Veins

IPL treatment is the safest and effective, non-surgical treatment option for the removal of spider veins and varicose veins

Spider Vein

Spider veins are small red, blue, or purple damaged veins that can appear on the surface of the face and thighs. They are usually not painful or harmful. Spider veins appear in the form of thin lines, webs or branches. In the legs, spider veins can occur when the valves inside the veins stop working properly.

They develop for various reasons, they can be connected to:

    Genetics

  • Pregnancy

  • Increasing age

  • Obesity

  • Sun damage

If not treated immediately, spider veins can become darker and bigger.

How to treat Spider Veins

IPL treatment is the safest and effective, non-surgical treatment option for the removal of spider veins.
Our in-house expert Dr. Poonam Arya, professionally performs advanced IPL leg vein treatments for patients from all over the NCR region.

IPL uses a light source to reduce their appearance and rejuvenate the skin. IPL, directly treats spider veins by damaging the walls of the blood vessel by applying heat to it. Once the blood vessel is damaged, it will eventually disappear and be reabsorbed by the body. IPL is effective because it treats the lower layers of the skin. The light penetrates the skin affecting the spider veins without damaging the surface of the skin.

The procedure can take anywhere between 20 to 45 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated. There is no downtime required after your treatment.

Varicose Vein

Varicose veins on the other hand are usually enlarged (larger than ¼ inch in diameter), swollen and twisting veins, often appearing dark purple and bluish in color, and are painful. They happen when faulty valves in the veins allow blood to flow in the wrong direction or to pool.

Symptoms can include:

    Aching legs

  • Swollen ankles

  • Spider veins

  • Uncomfortable or restless legs

  • Skin discolouration around ankles

  • Heavy and fatigued legs

Overweight people have an increased risk of varicose veins.

How to treat Varicose Veins

Pulsed light therapy delivers a concentrated pulse of light to the varicose vein, generating heat and damaging the walls of the vein. The vein shrinks and disappears. Surrounding tissue is not harmed during the treatment.

The treatment is non-surgical and can be performed in less than an hour. Pain and recovery time is minimal. The treatment can be used on the face, arms, legs, thighs, abdomen, ankles and other parts of the body. Patients may require two to six treatments in intervals of four to six weeks to achieve optimal results. Following the treatment, patients may feel slight bumps on the skin, although this typically goes away within a few hours. The skin may be reddish, and some experience bruising. No downtime time required after the procedure.
